Video Is Awesome!
Creating and adding videos to your website or posting on social media is an excellent way to engage users, create a stronger connection, and improve your brand credibility. Embedding a video on your website homepage is also a great way to increase the average time spent on your site, which positively increases SEO (since site viewing time is a ranking factor, more in my Content Article) and improves the chances that people will visit additional pages since they’re more engaged and curious about your offerings.
What Kind Of Videos?
You can create any kind of video that you’d like and that would provide value to your audience. Some examples are: interviews with people, tutorials and tips, informational presentations, webinars, photo slideshows, etc…Anything entertaining that provides value to your customers. It can be done with a camera, within a PowerPoint Presentation, computer animation, or just with photos. These can be spread throughout your website, added to your blog, or even posted to social media.
What About Equipment?
While you may need a camera, lighting equipment, and a microphone to make high quality in person videos, It’s not as expensive or as complicated as you think. For a camera, anything that shoots high definition (1080P) is fine. Just about all smartphones made within the last few years shoot in full HD and I guarantee that you or someone you know has an iPhone or Android Phone. For lighting, all you need is a well lit room that has a big window for natural lighting. The only thing you may need to buy is a microphone, and there are many that you can get for under $100 which will help amplify your voice to help it sound natural and crisp.
For computer generated videos (PowerPoint, animations, photo slideshows) all you really need is a computer, and I know that you have that! All Window computers come with Movie Maker pre-installed and Mac users have iMovie which is free video editing software. There are premium applications such as: Adobe Premier and After Effects which can give you more editing options for complex videos.
Online Video Options
There are also online services that can help you create videos easily without any additional software. one that I recommend is Animoto which allows you to input graphics, text, photos, and videos clips to create amazing videos quickly. They also feature an impressive audio library so that you can add music tracks to your videos. However, this is a premium service which costs anywhere from $19-$40 per month based on the plan you select, but is well worth it if you’re interested in creating videos regularly.
Below are some videos that I created for myself and for clients. I mainly focus on creating logo sting animations and photo slideshow animations. So you can get a better idea of what’s possible and how some of my clients are utilizing the power of video to boost their brand and business.
Video isn’t going anywhere and with YouTube being the 4th most visited site in the U.S. (and 2nd largest search engine) the people have spoken…and they love video!
